MARLIE STUD DRAUGHT HORSES
In recognition of our 150th Year, the Nowra Show Society has deliberated planned for the inclusion of both the ‘old’ and the ‘new’ in our Main Arena entertainment program. On Friday and Saturday night, we invite you to journey down memory lane with Marlie Stud. Their 11-horse wagon team and wool wagon will take you back before tractors were invented, to when the farmer and their horses were the backbone of the country. Outside the main arena during the course of the show, there will also be historic demonstrations including single farrow ploughing and chaff making, again showcasing the magnificent power of the draught horse team.
Marlie Stud are passionate about traditional farming and working draught horses. At Marlie’s working draught horse farm in Exeter, working horses are used to complete various farm work, such as ploughing, seeding, fertilising and harvesting crops, cutting chaff and logging. Anything that can be done with a tractor, can be done with a horse just like they did many years ago.
If you would like to meet their horses and see the horse drawn wagon up close, visit the team alongside the southern side of the Main Area. And make sure you grab a ringside seat, on both Friday and Saturday nights, to see the draught horse team in action.
